A tree can only be seen to prosper and grow until its connected to its roots. It does not matters how many times it sheds its leaves or its branches are cut by external factors it still grows and prospers with its trunk connected to the roots and so is the air, getting purer around it , creatures cherishing in its caring harbor and whole ecosystem develops and grows with that tree irrespective of any discrimination against any living being from a microbe in the soil to an elephant seeking shelter under its shade during harsh weathers.
