A tree can only be seen to prosper and grow until its connected to its roots. It does not matters how many times it sheds its leaves or its branches are cut by external factors it still grows and prospers with its trunk connected to the roots and so is the air, getting purer around it , creatures cherishing in its caring harbor and whole ecosystem develops and grows with that tree irrespective of any discrimination against any living being from a microbe in the soil to an elephant seeking shelter under its shade during harsh weathers. A tree grows , all grow.
Civilization and roots
The very DNA of any modern society is its civilisation. The present modern state of India is the result and also in the process of evolution of many complex and sometimes contradictory practices, thoughts and empires. At the same time there was something common across lengths and breadths of this ancient land , something that was there before Jesus arrived and missionaries started conversion of pagans , something before prophet mohammad took birth and established and propounded Islam. This was the parampara , 'civilisation' an English term might not provide the essential substance to this 'Sanatana parampara' of which Adi Sankaracharya was part, that gave birth to Rishi Vyasa, which prevailed before Krishna said Geeta and cited this Sanatan Dharma whose origin is considered with the beginning of time. It is the root of the Indian society that holds us firm together. It is because of this sanatana parampara and its inclusivity that India has been the shelter for many persecuted Zorastrians by Islamic invasion which compelled them to leave their own native motherland. It is because of this sanatana parmpara this modern Indian state embraces all the religions and is an example of a diverse yet united society. The tolerance nature of this ancient culture that has engulfed all religions coming to its doors and at the same time cherished and embraced them to prosper individually. This Sanatana parampar has produced many ignited and enlightened personalities that have contributed to the world as in according to the need of the time. Jagadguruttam Sri Krishna, intellect of Chanakya, wisdom of buddha, science of Aryabhatta and many more until recently Swami Vivekanada who have devised ways to a better life , towards righteousness, towards Dharma, from material advancement with science towards 'moksha' with spiritual practices, this tree of Indian state has been growing with new branches and new leaves providing shelter to the needy in its nurturing shade. Even after about more than thousand years of external attempts to cut its branches , this 'tree of Sanatana' has been providing shade even to its assailants, be it turks or mughals or colonizers. Everyone just prospered under its shade. Many tried to plunder its resources and rich culture without realising that they were cutting the same branch they were sitting on, hence perished. The tree of Sanatana continues to grow with some diminishing consciousness due to plunderers and later colonizers who deceitfully propagated their narrative in order to destroy the society and its culture by fading away its glorified past and promoting their material supremacy, making people ashamed of their history and ancient practices.
This was how colonizers established their rule. Though India got freedom physically, it still continues to be mentally colonized with the same laws and education system that has no connection to its roots. The rising consumerism in this globalised world is leading to obscurantism of civilization ethos or sanatana parmapara. It will require generations to bring it back to the conscience of the common man that being modern does not equals being western. English is not the benchmark of intellectual capacity or is superior to sanskrit or hindi. Its the utmost need and high time that we need to preserve our roots that is this great sanatana parmapara.
